The discipline requires almost all of our preparation time as a student and through this period of intense and unrelenting practice comes understanding and maturity arriving at ‘your ‘ level of ability and artistry .” Armando Ghitalla Rules and Regulations 1. Modern / Contemporary Periods ******July 10 2006 – Final Due Date for Application and Recording ******* NOTE : tape return / include return envelope: Addressed and Postage Pre Paid Total Available Awards $15,000 The Armando Ghitalla International Trumpet Classic Awards 2006 will be divided among as many as 6 individuals chosen from the Young artist and Professional division. The Ghitalla Award is $7,500 plus solo appearances with the Berkshire Symphony Orchestra 2007 season, and the Hummel Trumpet Concerto with the United States Coast Guard Band in a Gala Concert on October 1 2006. This Performance will culminate the Berkshire Brass Spectacular presented with the Colonial Theater in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. This Festival is dedicated to the memory of Armando Ghitalla. In addition $7,500 will be divided among as many as 5 performers – amounts will be determined by the Panel. After the first round as many as 20 semi-finalists will be asked to submit a 2nd tape with the complete Hummel Trumpet Concerto in Eb. This selection has been chosen for the Gala Concert on October 1 2006 which will feature the Ghitalla Award winner for 2006. Semi-Finalists will be contacted by mail, email, and telephone no later than August 1, 2006 The complete Hummel Concerto Recording will be due August 10, 2006. Players not capable of performing the Hummel Concerto are still eligible to win awards. 12 Finalists will be invited to perform at the Berkshire Brass Spectacular 2006 on September 28, 2006 in front of a live audience and panel. All Award Finalists will be notified by August 25, 2006 As many as 6 Ghitalla Award winners will perform in Concert on September 29, 2006. Of those winners one will be chosen to perform on October 1, 2006 the Hummel Concerto in Eb with the US Coast Guard Band. The Rehearsal will be on September 30, 2006. All Participants will receive a critique of their performance as well as a Performance certificate suitable for framing announcing their participation in the 1st annual Armando Ghitalla International Trumpet Classic 2006. In addition compliments of the Ghitalla Foundation a free copy of the CD recording: The American Brass Band Journal Sony – BMG recording featuring and dedicated to Armando Ghitalla and Music of Gabrieli – The Telarc CD dedicated to the memory of Armando Ghitalla featuring the Empire Brass, Boston Symphony and NY Philharmonic Brass. All Participants will also receive free from the Armando Ghitalla manuscript series: Advanced lip Flexibilities and Etudes Book 1.
